Field Notes

Description:

Looks like a caterpillar, but check the legs, too many for a caterpillar. It is a sawfly larva. Joined by a Green Stink Bug in the first photo, and I believe a Green apple aphid (Aphis pomi) in the 2nd photo. (There was a lady bug too, but she flew off)

Habitat:

Meadow in the Poconos.

Thanks so much! It was a joint effort by all! I really am astounded being new as of yesterday, the comments and help I have received. Thanks again EVERYONE!
Eric you got it... ID to be suggested...!! http://www.bugsandweeds.co.uk/sawflies.html
yea it looks like Tenthredo scrophulariae but idk if theyre in the US or not
I can't find it in my guides. If you have no luck you can submit a sighting to butterfliesandmoths.org & they will ID it for you, provided it is a butterfly or moth of course! Otherwise try http://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=sawfly+larvae&search=Search
This might not be a butterfly or moth caterpillar. Sawfly (wasp) larvae resembling a caterpillar. It was very small and unusual. Still searching!
