Description:
The Florida softshell turtle has a leathery carapace & webbed, clawed feet. Its tail extends beyond the edge of the shell (visible in both pictures). It has a long protrusive neck. Often, the nose & eyes are all that appear above the surface of the water. This turtle is carnivorous. It will defend itself if a threat is perceived.
Habitat:
Local nature park freshwater pond.
