Field Notes

Description:

Starling sized. The evening grosbeak is a stocky bird with a heavy pale bluish or greenish bill.Male has grayish brownish head grading to a yellow body with a bright yellow forehead. Whit wing patches in flight. Female is similar but not as brightly colored.

Habitat:

Summers in coniferous forests, but may visit broadleaf forests during the winter.

Thanks Sarah. When I first began with PN, I'm not sure if we didn't have a slot for the scientific name or if I just added it to the title, as I did with this spotting. I thought I'd gone back and corrected all of my spottings, but maybe I missed this one or perhaps I didn't get around to all of them. At any rate, thanks for catching this one; appreciate it.
