Species ID Suggestions

Thanks for your suggestions. This thing was HUGE! I was with a group of students and it stayed on one of the girl's backpack a long time. We left the pack at the side of the trail. When we returned 20 minutes later it was still on the pack. I think it may be a European Hornet/Giant Hornet, which can now be found in the U.S. Sean - It was interesting reading about the Cicada-Killer wasp. Thanks for sharing!
If is huge may be an hornet http://eol.org/pages/1032911/overview
