Description:

Tamarack is unique in that it sheds its needles every fall. Just like deciduous trees, its leaves (needles) turn bright yellow before they drop.

Habitat:

Peat bog

Notes:

The name Tamarack is the Algonquian name for the species and means "wood used for snowshoes".

These Larix are beautiful Greg, but not unique as deciduous conifers. Taxodium and Metasequoia also shed their needles every fall.
