No problem Kdon! I thought you knew the identity. I was trying to make a little dent in the very long list of "unknowns" by encouraging users to complete the details where known!
hi Karen, in as much that i love to identify the specie without discrepancy, i just can't help but to leave it blank as i am not finely adept with arthropods. i could only speak for birds in the philippines in some level. sorry karen....or i would find someone from Haribon Foundation to identify it
Hi Kdon! Where you know the common name of the species, please could you look up & add the scientific name - it is very easy to do on a Google search. That takes the spotting out of the "unknown" list. We would also appreciate it if you could add a reference link & complete some info in the details field for your spottings.
thanks guys, sure we are all fascinated with the metallic coloration of this creature. take a closer look to the luminous light green color, it is actually in powdery form, it can easily be transferred to whatever it had firm contact with leaving nearly glow-in-the-dark traces. thanks also S Frazier for the ID, now i've change the name to generic one, be left until later after being dealt with proper identification
I think "maybe" from the metallic wood boring beetles, family Buprestidae. Here's an example of one member http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6940796 from not so far away.
