Field Notes

Description:

Some meadow holly found near a river near Elk City Park here in Kansas. Meadow holly is also known as the much better name "Possumhaw", I mean that's just hilarious. Its fruit is eaten by songbirds and its twigs and leaves by deer.

Habitat:

Native to the Eastern US and down into Mexico.
