Description:

This is an interesting find of seldom seen Phasmid from the genus Phasmotaenia, possibly Phasmotaenia sanchezi, but not sure.
P.sanchezi was first described by Bolivar in 1897.

This is a Female, quite large, body length around 18-20 cm.
She has very tiny wings, as shown in Pic #1, when startled, she will opens up her wings which is brownish in color but underwings are red in color.

Pic #1 also shows and enlarged thorax, which means she has just fed. This specie, usually after feeding, their thorax will be bloated/enlarged.

Habitat:

High altitude tropical rain forest
