Description:

This moth has a brilliant red abdomen and black and white wings. The caterpillars have stinging hairs that give a painful sting if handled. The caterpillars can be seen at my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/11446180

Please forgive the horrible photo's! There was an explosion of this species of butterfly! They were flying right into me and I never saw them land.

You narrowed it down to buck moth. I had the easy part!
It looks like a day flying moth, but beyond that I'm clueless. I llived in SD county for years and was an avid butterfly chaser and never once saw anything like it
