Field Notes

Description:

Small, up to 5 cm long Fire Salamander. They have flattened heads with short, somewhat rounded snouts. The basic color is black with yellow markings. Their skin is shiny in appearance.

Habitat:

During the day, they live in shallow burrows tunneled into the moist humus or under stones, logs, or other debris.

Notes:

I saw this cute salamander roaming in the leafs near waterfall in the middle of the day.
