Common Buckeye Butterfly

I thought it was a dead leaf at first in the swampy woods on our property. What is it doing here? It was a bit wet, but still lightly moving around. I put her on a little higher ground to dry off and later that afternoon I saw the butterfly flying around the meadow. :)
