Field Notes

Description:

Tiny red mite resembling a spider. Legs are nearly translucent near body then turns red. There is light colored setae (hair) on the body and the palp is red. Last image shows a slight color pattern on the dorsal shield.

Habitat:

Cape Honeysuckle leaf in backyard. Last image is of the mite after it crawled to an unknown leaf.
