Field Notes

Description:

tall tree with 'papery' bark that has a spongy texture; and columns of cream-colored flowers

Habitat:

spotted along the entrance street to a mobile home park

Notes:

This tree is a remnant of the landscaping planted when this park was created back in the very early 1960's. My grandparents were one of the first residents there. As kids we would carefully peel the 'paper' from the trunks to write or color on (it rarely worked out well).
