Field Notes

Description:

Small, "agressive" gliding lizard. Sandy coloured. Pink red inside of the mouth.

Habitat:

In the rubbertrees.

Notes:

Our dog was playing with something in amongst the dry leaves, when I looked I saw this lizard on the ground " attacking" my dog :-) the lizard was about 10 cm maybe but it was raising his patagium ( " wings") to make himself look fierce and with his mouth open he kept jumping towards the dog! He also bit me when I picked him up to save him from dog. He is back in the tree now. :-)

I think this is a female, because I had a case like this too were I was picking up Spotted Wood Owl pellets when something under a log next to me started moving like crazy. I thought it was a snake and thought I was done for if it was poisonous, but it turned out to be one of these guys. It was also a female. They rarely will come to the ground and this one was laying eggs, and this may have been the case with your draco. Well, untill your dog disturbed her :)
Wow. It looks like a dragon you read about in fairy tales. I never even knew something like this existed. It's extremely fascinating!
