Field Notes

Description:

Around 2", maybe 3" long. dark grey-black with light grey spots. 4 toes on the front legs and 4-5 toes on the back legs.

Habitat:

Saw this guy in my back yard between some landscape rocks

I'll be sure to remember that, I hadn't heard that before. I uploaded a picture from when i saw him again later that night, it had been raining so all the dirt had been washed off.
Please be sure to keep them moist with dechlorinated water when you are photographing them. They can dry out quickly when exposed to the elements. It also aids in identification.
Thanks for the help AshleyT, I was thinking small-mouthed salamander but I wasn't 100% sure before.
