Field Notes

Description:

Red-eyed Tree frog's eggs in a jelly-like substance deposited on a leaf. Taken at night with flash. I think they probably belong to the Red-eyed Tree Frog (Agalychnis callidryas) as I saw several in that patch of trees around a small pond.

Habitat:

Seen in the grounds of Mawamba Lodge, Tortuguero, Costa Rica.

Native to the tropical rainforests of Central America.

Notes:

Thanks Juan for this spotting showing the development of the eggs.

Congratulations Pam, your cool capture has earned you Spotting of the Day! Though it looks like a piece of art glass, these are actually frog’s eggs that have been deposited on a leaf!
