Field Notes

Description:

Approximately 4cm in length (5.5cm if you include the back legs). 1cm wide at its widest point. It is the a yellow color similar to the shade of straw.

Habitat:

Spotted next to the Tampa Bay Port Authority. A fairly urban area located very close to the water. Time of spotting was 9:45am Eastern time.

Broad-tipped Conehead Katydid

Neoconocephalus triops

Could also be the Round-tipped Conehead, Neoconocephalus retusus. Need a view of the underside of the "nose cone" to be sure one way or the other.
