Field Notes

Description:

Some tall grass going to seed in a small, wooded swamp on the side of the road.

Habitat:

North western pennsylvania about 6 miles from the lake shore. Shallow swamp amid an old logging site with woods bordering three sides and a road on the fourth.

Notes:

Leaves are blade shaped with sharp edges and still green, stems are still strong but dry with very little green left to them. Seed heads are fluffy and soft with small oval seeds and a pale cream to light brown color.
