Description:

The sandwich tern is a medium sized tern. It has black legs and feet. Its bill is also black but has a yellow tip. Summer's black crown becomes winter's white forehead and streaked crown. A juvenile would have even more white streaking through the crown and lack the yellow tip on the bill.

Habitat:

Coastal.

Notes:

The sandwich tern is protected in the USA under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
