Ditto that Mel, more Sri Lanka! Unfortunately I have already posted all of mine from my 5 visits there.
I was too young for wildlife photography when I last visited both Bundala and Yala. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit them again next year, this time with my cam. Can't wait to capture the biodiversity there! I'm looking forward for more of your spottings from SL Mel11 :)
Thanks Jazz.man and Rithmini. I went to Bundala in 2006 which was before I started to take wildlife photographs and we were so taken with it that we then took our sons there in 2015 (as well as to Yala) - I came back with thousands of photos - sorting these and others has kept me out of trouble during lockdown!.
Thank you so much! The collection is impressive! I'm sure both of us will enjoy it a lot.
@Rithmini: Yes, Bundala is a magic place for birds, but I also saw Elephants, Ruddy Mongoose, Gray Langur, Toque Macaque, Black-naped Hare, Mugger Crocodile, Honey Bee Nest, Garden & Monitor Lizards! This is the link to my Google photo album of my visit, if you want to see the photos all in one place instead of combing through my spottings (they can be downloaded if you wish to share with your father): https://photos.app.goo.gl/Q2CaXiw5qeM3dJKk8
I see you're a big fan of Bundala just like my father. He loves bird watching and used to go there a lot for field visits in his youth. Sadly, cameras with tele lenses were off limit for him at that time so he doesn't have any captured photographs. And now he's too busy with his job and doesn't have enough time to go there. We live in Colombo so it's a bit far away for regular visits.
Hey Mel: Nice spotting. I see you have been to Yala, one of my favorite places. Calotropis gigantea must be quite prolific there because I have spottings of it from both times I visited Yala (one of them with a gorgeous carpenter bee perched on it): https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/2104532311 https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1706556419 https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1679402983 If you ever go back to Sri Lanka, check out Bundala National Park, an underappreciated gem, with orders of magnitude less jeep traffic (we were basically alone there), and every bit as much great wildlife as Yala!
