Description:

Snouted tiger moths (Lepidoptera: Erebidae, Aganainae) are widely distributed. In Papua, two subspecies of Asota heliconia occur. This spotting is likely A. h. doryca (based on other observation records, see third-listed reference).

Habitat:

This spotting in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest.
