Description:

The common garter snake is a thin snake commonly found across many ecosystems and all across the North American continent. They have venom, but it is only potent if you are an amphibian, bird, or small mammal.

Habitat:

This particular snake was slithering through some leaf matter on the forest floor in a nature preserve.
