large sprawling evergreen

Habitat:

spotted in undeveloped wooded area along major highway

Notes:

Even though it is often referred to as "Florida holly", the plant is a pernicious invasive in the state.

Yes, sadly all too familiar. Would you be willing to add this spotting to my new mission for Florida Invasives.
Pernicious invasive in California too. I have a huge one in my back yard and I spend some time every month cutting back the sprigs that shoot up off the roots. The tree is too big to take out (and I'd miss the shade) but I wish the original owners had planted something native.
