Anyone know why this grackle lost all the feathers on it's head? He wouldn't fly and just walked away when I got close

Lots of young birds molt their head at a different time than their body it seems, I've seen lots of featherless heads this time of year!
Ok, he didn't look in too good a shape. I guess it's pretty rough for a bird in the molting stage. Thanks
It's a young bird just molting into his adult plumage, that would be why he didn't fly.
