flat pinkish-beige cap approx. 3 1/2inches in diameter, 2 1/2 inches tall

Habitat:

spotted among leaf litter in dog park at county park

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really don't think it fits the profile. This mushroom was very dry, a bit stiff and light-colored. And it was not growing under or near conifers.
Looks like the saffron milk cap - lactarius deliciosus.
