Description:

I don't know about you, but I get quite giddy when I find something new. At first glance, I thought this was just another feather-legged fly (Trichopoda sp.), which I see on occasion. Upon closer inspection, it's a new genus for me - Cylindromyia. They are in the same subfamily as Trichopoda but branch off from there. It was really exciting and I could have spent much longer shooting this fly. I was so thankful that it was a willing subject and it never flew away, no matter how close I moved in. A total surprise and a lot of fun! :-)
