Description:
Caterpillars with dashed lines parallel down back. Found seven of them under fallen oak leaves in my front lawn while raking. They were cold and curled up, so I assume they were hiding for the winter. I relocated them to a sheltered leaf pile in my yard. These caterpillars become Large Yellow Underwing moths.
Habitat:
Suburban yard with lots of red and white oak leaves.
