Field Notes

Description:

About the size of a House Finch, if not slightly smaller. Females yellowish, males reddish. Note distinctive crossed mandibles.

Habitat:

Riparian corridor in mountain foothills with mixed conifers and understory of shrubs like Gambel's Oak, Chokecherry.

Notes:

Two pairs were seen. Images reflect one female and at least one male.
