Field Notes

Description:

Approximately 3 pounds of cauliflower mushroom. Sitting in a strainer in my sink... harvested last week, this was so far our first find of this type.

They look like a pile of egg noodle laying on the ground at the base of a tree or stump.

Habitat:

Conifer and hardwood mix, clay soil, some underbrush.

Notes:

These are a GREAT edible! Beer battered and fried, or fried in butter with some seasoning and garlic... they are a nice mushroom!
