Description:

Beautiful colors. I found 3 - small, medium and large. This is the medium sized one. (.024 - 0.71 inches) 6 mm - 18 mm. Not including the legs. Very large web.Very active. Fascinating to watch for quite a while. (Morning after a rainstorm) (1/2 inch abdomen) Both sides of spider

Habitat:

Meadow in the Poconos.

Mixed up two of these spiders. This was the medium sized one 1/2 abdomen. Very beautiful. New photos show both sides.

Thanks so much. My first spider encounter was Aug.8, this year. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so scared but I took the photo anyway. If I saw this one first, I would run from the meadow. HA! (not so scared anymore)
I absolutely love these spiders! I had one living on my porch when I lived in Bel Air Md.. I would catch small moths & crickets and feed them to it. I even had it in my hand once,& it didnt bite. Cool spider!
What a fabulous spider! You do have a fantastic variety of wildlife in your meadow Carol!
