Description:

Large green moth (Almost 3 inches). The pics are taken on a mosquito net and when the moth was alive. The next day I found the poor fellow dead. Our cook buried it in the garden. The wingspan is 70-86 mm. It differs from nearly all other Nephele species in the apical hindtibial spurs having only a few, rather thin, distally situated spines. The hindbasitarsal comb is less developed than in African species of Nephele.

Habitat:

Nephele hespera is a sphingid moth found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Burma Myanmar, southern China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
