Never mind, Cindy - fungi are a tough competition to ID...i guess i can tell that well :D
Hi Marta, It does look similar and I have a lot of C. micaceus in other parts of the property. I wish I was better at fungi!
I am no fungus expert but it looks alike the one I have in my spotting below so I have suggested it as a possible ID above: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7850108
Thanks Alex! We have P. echiniceps http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Psathyrella_echiniceps.html that seems to resemble it a bit. http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/index.html is a great website for the fungi here in Cali but I'm still horrible at ID'ing them :)
