Field Notes

Description:

Near the limits of Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area south of Alpine, Texas, a mated pair of Golden Eagles was nesting. While driving up from Big Bend National Park I slowed down to look for them, knowing they might be around. Sure enough I saw the pair. This was the only Good picture I was able to get with the camera I had at the time. They are HUGE!

Habitat:

Desert scrubby creosote and high rocky outcrops.
