Description:

These wingless Limoniidae crane flies are most often found walking around on the snow during the winter months. They are small, about 4mm body length and look like a spider running on the snow.

Notes:

A male with a clasping tail end is in the first picture and the female with a pointed ovipositor is in the second picture.
