Field Notes

Description:

An adult female. Small wings; cannot fly. Large abdomen. She should be laying her eggs soon. This is the first Carolina Mantis I've found in my yard, though there are probably tons of them. Impressive camouflage. Much smaller than the Chinese Mantids I usually find.

Habitat:

Found on my porch

Notes:

Keeping her for a few hours, to observe her behavior.
