Found along an outlet stream in our Outdoor Lab, undoubtedly getting ready for a long, cold winter.

Wow that's so cool that you found a snapping turtle
Thanks for the comments! Just have to correct you though, Orbem......that's me, a female teacher, holding the turtle ;) I worked as a director at an outdoor education center for many years before becoming a teacher and worked with many herps during my time there. Thanks for the info - I'll share that with my students!
Hi Emma ! Yes that is in the link below...holding them by the tail can dislocate the vertebrae. The guy holding the turtle knows what he is doing!
There is a special technique of holding these turtles without hurting them.
