Description:

Appears to be some sort of bolete... brown cap with light spots. Yellowish pores under cap with brown stem. Approximately 4 inches across.

Yes, it was on ground... growing in the duff and moss. It was the only one like it we saw in a 2 mile hike in to the woods.
