Field Notes

Description:

Fast moving, very green, long-tailed hummingbird with a great fluorescent patch on it's throat. It seemed to have a taste for every flower in the small garden.

Habitat:

This hummingbird, and many others, knew exactly which little enclosed patio to drop in on for a feast of nectar - in the middle of a sizeable Guatemalan city on the lower slopes of a volcano. After a few minutes it was time to move on again, and I have no idea whence it headed.

Great looking bird...I've never seen hummingbirds use the Golden Shrimp Plant..learned something there!
Thanks! This is one of those pictures that I loved but was disappointed with because I kept thinking, "If only I could catch the wings in still motion." Now I have a better camera, and I will be on the hunt for another Sheartail next time I'm in Guatemala.
