Description:
Cousin to the Rock Pigeon, these are not domestic. These are native pigeons to western states. In fact are very skiddish birds. Dark gray body, with a iridescent patch on the back of the neck and white stripe above it. Yellow bill with black tip. Their name comes from a pale band at the bottom of their tail. Mostly can be found in flocks but I have seen one alone.
Habitat:
Mostly have spotted these in wooded hills hardly staying in one place. Also spotted in some parks up in the tall trees. But sometimes they can be found at feeders.
Notes:
A friend would have many at her feeder, and for the first time I spotted this one with 5 others at my feeder. When I took the picture they spooked and I haven't seen them again. It was a surprise to see them here.
