Description:

Tallest of the waders this large bird has a grayish body with a yellow bill, black on cheeks and crown with a crest. Folds it's neck down when in flight.

Habitat:

Lakes, ponds, rivers, and other shallow wetland areas

Notes:

Great Blue Herons are sometimes very cooperative in their tolerance for close approach, other times they are extremely shy about any approach.
