Field Notes

Description:

I spotted this Turkey Vulture perched in a tree, near a small pond. There is a flock of 10-20 at different times during the day in this area. Sometimes sitting in trees, other times, grouped on a grassy area, and sometimes flying above the area. Near Caspers Recreational Area, Orange County, CA.

Wow you got close! As much as I want to like them, they're just not attractive :)
LOL! thanks Carol. I would say these Turkey vultures are about as big as a large cat. You can hear them walking on the roof of the building (from the inside) and you can hear them running and then taking off. If you're lucky, you can then see them take flight and swoop around. It's like LAX and an airline runway sometimes.
