Field Notes

Description:

Bright red body with dark wings and a dark tail. Pretty small body. Very quick and shy of humans.

Habitat:

The first time I saw this bird was in a small city park on a hillside in the very large city of Medellin, but then I started to see him in other, more populated parts of the city as well. The temperature in Medellin at winter time was pretty warm, verging on moderately cold at night. Somewhere between the high temperatures of Cartagena and the low temperatures of Bogota.
