Description:

Invasive species of russian thistle that has taken over in the arid western U.S. This patch has some very large ones.

Tell me if I'm wrong on the exact species ID.

Habitat:

At the shores of Lake Mead (a man-made reservoir formed by the Hoover dam), in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, at the Nevada-Arizona border
