Description:
Large plant with green hairless stems. Wide, alternate, simple leaves. Small stalks produce white flowers with green centers. As plant ages, stems turn bright pink, and dark purple/black berries are produced. The berries are a food source for many wild birds. This plant has a large taproot and is perennial.
Habitat:
Suburban yard.
Notes:
Parts of this plant considered highly toxic to livestock and humans. Stem, fruit and leaves are edible. Mostly considered a pest plant. Native.
