Atul I have spotted this Moth on yesterday... and this spotting is helped me to ID it correctly... and many thanks to Anjali... for perfectly identification. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15750160
Thank you so much bayucca,Ashish ,Anjali and Cherrey for your efforts in the id process.... i think ill go with the Amata cyssea suggestion ...thanks again :)
BTW: Doc, Many greetings from Mayur!!
Hmm... It is not Amatea phegea and I think this one is not Syntomoides imaon, which I didn't notice before, I was just looking at the Amata suggestions. In addition I think the ID on of Imaon on Wiki is also not correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Syntomoides_imaon.JPG I think the one on Wiki is also Amata cyssea. Looking at several Imaons the spots are all larger and in another order. I think this link is trustable (even more on Wiki, sometimes one has to be sceptic about IDs on Wiki): http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-6/syntominae/syntominae-6-1.php This is also trustable, John is an expert: http://www.flickr.com/photos/itchydogimages/7224439292/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/samsonso_photography/2652029293/ So, that's what Imaon is looking like. Doc, I apologize, but you might check the links and suggestions again. I think this one is Amata cyssea! What do you think??
Agree with Anjali and Bayucca.
EOL have page... http://eol.org/pages/567944/overview
Its a pity this specie cyssea not included on this page.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amata_(moth)
Bayucca Must be.... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6214177
Amata phegea is from Europe and eastern part to Transkaukasia, but not India. According to the link and the suggestion from Anjali I would alsosay it is Amata cyssea: http://www.indianaturewatch.net/displayimage.php?id=96910 This assuming the ID of the link is correct, what it seems to be.
