Description:
Regular looking, playful Bottlenose dolphins. Smart ones that are used to (far too heavy) tourist attention.
They seem to have made a game of it all the attention, however. At any given time while we were there, there were at least 5 boats roaming the small bay. One dolphin would pop up and have all the boats rushing to go see it, then two dolphins would pop up just within sight on the opposite end of the bay... and so it goes all day.
Habitat:
The Bay of Dolphins at Bocas del Toro. A place I'm glad I've been so I can avoid going back - wonderful area with far, far too much tourist traffic. The reefs are brown and crumbling; so sad.
Notes:
On a more dangerous note - if a dolphin does happen to surface near at boat in the bay, the captain will instantly floor the accelerator and start driving in circles to build a wake to get the dolphins jumping.
