Field Notes

Description:

Several of these butterflies were circling when I caught sight of them, but none came so low that I could get a very clear shot, or view, of their backs. The lines on their wings were not so clear in plain sight as they were once the sun was shining through, as in this picture. The wings mostly appeared to be a light, creamy brown. The body was white.

Habitat:

This butterfly was found in a little settlement called La Prusia on the outskirts of Granada. There are a few rows of houses, but as a group they are pushed very much into forested hill country. The temperature was hot for a tropical region, the air muggy, and the rain came nearly every afternoon.

Notes:

Were the antennae on this winged creature more feathery, I would have guessed it to be a moth.
