Field Notes

Description:

These specked brown birds are sometimes hard to see on the bark of trees as they travel up them. They eat insects as they go up the tree and then drop down and start up again. They have a white line over the eye and a long, decurved bill.

Habitat:

They are found in the woods all around Chebeague and recently I have seen many on the East End and in my back yard.

Thank you - I am suddenly seeing lots of them around this year. I took pictures of them two years ago and hadn't seen them much since.

very nice bird,dificult to spot,here in portugal we have also a relativ,it's the Certhia brachydactyla,i make bird id's for portuguese atlas of nidification,winter bird's,and residentes bird's and this creeper is comun in oak forest's,but it's hard to see,easier to heard,congratulations
