Field Notes

Description:

About 2mm long. Usually found by window sills when I lived in Denton. This is the first one I've seen since moving to Kaufman. Found on our bed when changing linens. Sheets are cotton... not sure if that's something these bugs eat or not. The video is better quality than the photo.

Habitat:

Indoors?

Notes:

The photo & video are showing the larval stage of this critter.

No - having seen the empty carcasses and live ones in person, I can tell this isn't close. After a lot of online searching, I'm pretty convinced it's the larva stage of the warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile).
Interesting... maybe a springtail? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springtail
No - bedbugs are nothing like this creature... bed bugs are actual insects - 6 legs. This critter is a bug - several (read: lots and lots!) legs. Bedbugs are far more substantial - kinda like fleas. This thing - I've seen them before on windowsills - usually dead & hollow - are very delicate. Barely touching them crushes them - leaving a stain on your finger almost like charcoal dust. These things are very delicate.
Hard to tell from the pic... but could they be bed bugs?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed_bug#Physical
