Wildlife Spotting

For what I've read Scarlet Robins live in Queensland, South and West Australia and Tasmania and can lay from one to four small "bluish" eggs. The ID I provide is just a suggestion based only on the color of he egg and the location you provide. Why don't you take a look of the website? Maybe you find some more valuable info to better ID the egg...thanks for sharing!

Oops, I meant say the 10 cent piece is 23mm wide.

Welcome to NOAH Andrew. An Australian 10 cent piece (Which Andrew has cleverly placed with the Lyre bird side up) is 13mm wide, so I'd estimate that egg to be 30mm x 40mm in size. The only Australian birds I know to lay blue eggs are the emu and the little egret. And both would lay eggs that are lots larger. Starlings, and black birds, two introduced pest species, both lay blue eggs. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them off the top off my head. If you have a bird guide they usually describe the eggs in the back.

I think it is very important that we give some info when looking for help identifying something just like stevenspragg says, it makes a big difference. After all we want our IDs to be as accurate as possible, right?
